If you’ve been outside today, then I don’t have to tell you that winter is back. EVERY YEAR we get duped by a day or two of sunshine, and EVERY YEAR we forget how this drags on until *at least* May. This is how I know I will be getting many things done inside my apartment in the next two days.
Yes, today is Tuesday, not Monday, and on top of that I skipped the newsletter last week. But I’m back…

THIS WEEK’S HOT DATE
I went on two dates at the end of last week, and afterward I just felt…hung over? First up, a guy who immediately complimented my skin, which was a little odd for a man but perfectly fine. Then he would not drop the subject…
Him: “What do you use?”
Me: “Oh, uh…moisturizer, sunscreen…”
Him: “No like, which products?”
Me: *blinks*
Him: “Do you have botox?”
Me: “No, not yet…”
Him: “Wow, that’s AMAZING!”
Me: “But I’m not old!?” (he’s older than me anyway)
This was all before I’d even settled onto my stool and way before any mention of my obtaining a drink. After that I figured we’d already crossed the Friend Zone and were skipping through the land of Galpalia, so I just told him: Peptide cream, everyday Sunscreen, eye cream. I also had been d*cking around in a Sephora beforehand and put on some of this, which was a tad sticky and smelled like the lipglosses of our backpack-toting youths (watermelon) but did look quite pretty. I didn’t tell him about that one.
The second man is older, owns a very trendy restaurant, and is perhaps clinging to a youth that is…largely past, which is an observation I made based off the table we joined (young) and the hours one must keep in such a role/industry (late, very late). I enjoyed chatting with him but felt abandoned as he made his rounds greeting everyone…without introducing them to me. (TY for the teeny-tiny lobster rolls and champagne, though, for real.)
All in all, nothing to make me shirk anything resembling a date for months at a time (this time), but I think I can safely say that in a city full of 8 million people, that’s two down, 7,999,998 to go.
And therefore…progress 😎
ANYWAY
This week, I think it would be fun to go out to Red Hook to eat at:
The bar and counter is reserved for walk-ins – AS IT SHOULD BE – and the menu looks delightfully southern, which is something I’m craving. Fried saltines! For example! Self described as “A Joyful Mess…” is Pitt’s, in fact…me??
If the weather’s bearable, it could be nice to walk along the water a bit after this. And if not, treat your date to an Uber.
