Oh hey, it's my 1-year anniversary!
If only I could subsist off the pats I'm giving myself on the back.
Here’s what’s up in New York March 10-16:
STEAL OF THE WEEK
Nothing feels like a steal this week that I haven’t already told you about. Prices are WHACK. As always, I’ll let you know if I hear of anything…
TIMELY IDEAS
Mon., March 10 – MOVIES (FREE) – Free screening of Mulholland Drive at the library (Jefferson Market branch)
Wed., March 12 – FASHION & SUSTAINABILITY – “All That Glitters…” conservation and Sustainability of Fashion Collections at the Museum at FIT
Thurs., March 13 – TAROT – Tarot ‘N ‘Tinis with Maraschino at The Standard
Sat., March 15 – FITNESS – Fabletics Run Club Kickoff Run
Sat., March 15 – DISCUSSION – Death Cafe (“an informal, group-directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes”) at the Library
Sun., March 16 – MOVIES (FANCY) – Cozy Classics at Cannes Cinema, Fouquet’s New York. (This is a pricey one but it does look very luxe!)
THIS WEEK’S HOT DATE
Life gets more expensive by the minute. I’ve always been a cost-conscious queen, but now I’m hyper-focused on squeezing the most possible juice out of a dollar, if I even let a dollar fly at all.
For the foreseeable future, this section will include happy hour ideas for places I have personally enjoyed or have recently heard of through the grapevine.
Starting with:
Nudibranch
5:30-7:00pm
I went here last weekend with my mom because it looked great and they were are on InKind. We were delighted to find that they have happy hour ‘til 7, so we tacked $13 glasses of wine on to our meals at our 6:30 reservation. (We did the $65 pp menu, which I can absolutely recommend, although the favorite among all dishes was the chicory salad, if you want to go straight for that). There have a few $10 cocktails, $5 beers and a few discounted snackies on the menu as well…I can’t find it for reference, so just…trust me on this one? ;)
Heroes
5:30-7:00pm
The newer, French-er spot by the Niche Niche/Tokyo Record Bar team has “Tiny Tinis” for $5 and $10 Heroes Happy Hour Cocktails. (“Tiny” is probably a good amount of ‘tini anyway, don’t you think?)
Lovers of Today
5:00-7:00pm & 2am-4am, every day
Well, I came here to write that the happy hour specialty cocktails are a steal at $8. But upon looking for confirmation of this information, I found that they’re actually…$12. SO THAT SOUNDS ABOUT RIGHT. I guess this is still not bad, but like…ugh.
Yellow Rose
4:00-6:00pm, Monday-Thursday
Yellow rose has always had reasonable, delicious food (and the best chocolate cake I’ve ever had, no exaggeration). And as of two weeks ago, they also have happy hour! Details are here, but I’ll summarize by saying: Frozen Prickly Pear Margarita for $10.
